Privacy Policy — Nihǎo Chinese
Last updated: 25 June 2026
Nihǎo Chinese ("the app") is published by Abderrahim Tijani. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. The short version: the app does not collect, store, or share any personal information on our servers.
Information we collect
None. Nihǎo Chinese has no user accounts, no sign-up, and no analytics or advertising SDKs. We do not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, or any personally identifiable information.
Information stored on your device
The app saves the following only on your device, so your progress and preferences persist between sessions:
- Your flashcard / spaced-repetition study progress.
- Your settings (such as light/dark theme and speech rate).
This data never leaves your device and is removed if you uninstall the app or clear its data.
Device features the app uses
- Text-to-speech (audio): When you tap a Chinese word, the app uses your device's built-in text-to-speech engine to speak it. The text spoken is the learning content within the app; no recordings are made and no audio is sent anywhere.
- Internet access: The app connects to the internet only to download character stroke-order data used by the stroke-order practice feature. No personal information is transmitted in these requests.
Children's privacy
The app is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
Third-party services
The app does not include third-party advertising or analytics services. Device text-to-speech is provided by your device's operating system (e.g. Google) and is governed by that provider's own privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a new "Last updated" date.
